Forest Fair Board Cheque Presentation

The Forest Fair Board ladies presened a cheque to Darcey Turk.

The funds are being used to support the Super Strokers Ice Dragon Boat team when they compete in Ottawa in February

Thank you to the Forest Fair Board for all your support.

Canadian Rankings

The 2017 rankings are out for this year.  They are based on results from a number of races across Canada.

The U18 mixed boat was 208 out of 323 (including adults) and the U16 even made the list at 323 (not bad considering it was only half full!)
The Dirty Oars were 77 out of 134.  Pretty darned impressive!

Winner of the 50/50 draw at Boot Hill this year is Don Lebel of Ilderton. His take home from the draw was $8302. Don donated $300 back which is very much appreciated.

Thanks to the Breast Buddies and Raging Dragons for their help.

Also  huge thanks to all our volunteers at Boot Hill!  Very successful weekend!

Arkona Canada Day Parade

We had a nice sunny day for the Arkona Canada Day Parade. Our Libro friends and sponsor were with us for a photo opportunity.

Thanks Libro for all your support over the years.

Dirty Oars Brampton Race

The Dirty Oarsfinished 6th in the B Division, so 14th out of 24 I think.  I’m pretty impressed as i for sure thought we would be in the C division!  There were some high level sports womens teams there!  The top 8 are all premier ladies teams!  The Oars are pretty strong, and very competitive!  Did a 1:04 for their 200 and their first 500 race was a 2:41 – which is pretty good for their first ever race!!

Noah White has been named to Team Canada

Hi everyone,

One of our junior team members, Noah White has been named to Team Canada.  We are very proud of the work and dedication that Noah has committed to in order to make this team.  Costs for this event are pretty significant, and in the past, paddlers who made team Canada put on fundraisers locally to help offset their costs.  As Noah is the only one we have this year, we will not be able to put on something big, but this is one way we can all help in our own way.

Please read the attached information from Dominic Lai, the Head Coach of Team Canada.  There is a race being held in Vancouver this month that is a big fundraiser for the team.  Local groups choose a group to support, and the Junior team was selected as one of the beneficiaries.  Whatever the U18 team raises, it is matched up to $5000 by the company sponsoring the race.  In addition, the top team of fundraisers will receive an additional $5000, so the possibility is there for the team to get an additional $10000 to help with their costs!

If possible, could every family in our club look at donating to this cause.  Note that donations over $25 will receive a tax receipt.  Anything you donate would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for helping Noah reach his dream of representing not just Canada, but our little corner of the world in Lambton Shores, and our club!
